Farai was born in 1986, Murehwa, Zimbabwe. He is the 5th born in a family of 9 Children. He grew up and completed his secondary education in Chitungwiza.Being the grandson of Gabriel Tandi,one of the pioneers of Shona Art, and a son of Thomas Tandi a world renowned sculptor,Farai grew up surrounded by art.He was inspired by Thomas Tandi, his father, and at the age of 10, he started carving. Almost 70% of Gabriel Tandi ‘s children and grand children are artists. Farai says,carving is in his blood and it’s his sixth sense.Farai enjoys working on hard stones and specializes mainly in fine art and abstract creations.Farai ‘s work has been exhibited all over Europe, America,Australia, Africa and Asia and has won a couple of awards including the Agio Exhibition Award at the Chitungwiza Art Centre’s 10th Anniversary Celebration.
